I’ve just finished reading Satiristas by Paul Provenza and It’s an absolutely fantastic book. Filled with interviews with some of the most brilliant comedians I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with, some I’ve only seen on TV and a couple I’d never even heard of before. It really takes a deep look at what satire is and why some comedians feel that this is what they MUST do, no matter what the consequences might be. There are interviews with Doug Stanhope, Lewis Black and a lot of other standups. Also interviewed are people behind various TV-shows and stuff like that.  You just have to read it. If you’re a comedy fan, read it to find out who you need to go see. If you’re a comedian, read it to find out what you should be doing with your career. Or if you’re already doing it, read it to feel less lonely. As my friend Dag Sørås put it.

Reading the book also made me appreciate even more how much Mårten Andersson has done for comedy in Sweden. A bunch of the guys (sadly none of the girls, I think) in the book have been here and he brought over most of them. Lucky swedes.
